My First Quilt

I found the pattern for my first quilt at one of my very favorite local(ish) quilt shops. Sisters Fabric in Chehalis,WA. They have a HUGE selection and often order entire fabric lines!

They had a sample on the wall that I loved but they didn't have a pattern. They wrote me a little how to at the counter and showed me the confetti kit that they had used to make it. There was a ton of fabric in it too so my best friend and I decided to split it!

Next it was time to start cutting. Turns out...I hate cutting. Probably because you need to be kind of careful and precise and I hate that!

The white pile is mine and I added some pinks, the purple is my friend's.

We set it all out on the floor to get our lay out ready.

Isn't her kitty a big help?!

Here's my first two blocks!

And my first stitch ripping

My little helpers.

I taped my quilting lines to follow then used my walking foot for straight line quilting.

For my binding I just used my extra backing fabric and folded it over.

Then I stitched it down to the front of the quilt.

And here she is! I love it!

And the back of my quilt

What was your first quilt like? Did you have as much fun as I did?!

  1. This is a gorgeous first quilt! I made so many tops and wips before I made my first actually quilted and bound quilt. Turns out baby showers of friends are good incentives. :D
