Shop Hop!

Hey guys! I'm back! Shop hop was AMAZING! SO.MUCH.FUN! Also...spend all the money...oops!

My Grandma flew in from Kansas to do this with us. Mom rented a mini van and my two grandmas, two younger sisters, mom and I all piled in! 1300 miles, 5 ferries, 5 major bridges, 2 hotels, 6 people, 51 quilt shops, in 5 days!!

Here we are (minus Grany she had to take the pic) outside the first shop! I made the bags for each of us (post coming soon with all that info!) (also doesn't middle sister look so thrilled! She's not a morning person)

Penny Patch Progress

I have made progress on my penny patch quilt!

I finally got all the rows done first

Then pinned them together (this took a lot of time and dedication...I got bored in the middle!)

Then they sat like this for awhile before I sewed it all together. Now it's all basted and ready to be quilted! I'm practicing my FMQ to hopefully be able to finish it that way!

Oh hello!

Are you still out there my dear quilty friends?? I guess things have been a little crazy lately. But really...mostly...honestly..I got a little discouraged. I didn't feel like anyone was listening and talking to an empty internet wasn't much fun. Only guess what! In order to get people to follow your blog...you have to actually be writing one! Isn't that weird?! Anyways....lets try this again shall we?!

So! What HAVE I been up to? Well here's a quick summary and I'll get some posts up with some details starting tomorrow! I'm gonna be so much better about blogging this time I promise! (I mean probably. Maybe. Possibly. I'll try OK!)

Color Intensive

I have been taking the Color Intensive online class from Rachel over at Stitched In Color and so far I am really enjoying it! I'm learning to be more thoughtful and aware in my color choices, instead of just running with my first instinct! (although I'm sure that I will still be doing lots of that as well!) It's helped me to bring a little more meaning into my choices and helped me focus the message that i'm trying to send with each particular quilt.

I'm REALLY enjoying the mosaic challenges too! My sewing room is a bit of a mess and I have WAY too many projects going right now so digging into my stash for some of the assignments sounded more like a chore then fun, but with these mosaic challenges I'm using online fabric stores and that's much more manageable! Here are the two that I have completed so far!

This is my spring time challenge. The theme for mine was "springtime in seattle", there always seems to be a bit more grey to our spring than anything else! Put we do get some pops of those brighter colors! (if only in the clothes I'm wearing LOL!)

And here is this weeks! We are talking about rainbow blends so we made a color wheel mosaic!

This class has been amazingly fun so far and I can't wait to find the time to take some more quilting classes!

My Penny Patch Quilt

I decided I wanted to join in on the Penny Patch Quilt Along...but I knew going in that there was absolutely no way that I was going to stick to their schedule...it was just too close to the holidays when I found it! So I started by choosing my fabric for it.

Then they sat and waited....and waited....and waited...It was killing me!!

I finally had some time recently to get started! So I cut into these beauties and started making piles!

I changed the pattern a little bit from how they did it in the quilt along. In her original quilt (Vintage Tangerine) She had plain four patches as well as the penny patches and I decided that I liked that better. You know what that meant though? Yah...quilt math...bleck! I survived it though! And here are my cute little four patches!

Next came the penny patches! Of course there are piles!

Next step will be to start laying it all out and figure out where it all goes! But since I have two quilts for other people that get priority it's on a back burner for a bit. I like to look at the blocks waiting for me though!

Stash Sunday!

Here's to my first stash Sunday!

I decided that it was time to organize it all! I wanted it to be more accessable and open so that I could see it and get at it easier. I find that I have a bad habit of out of sight out of mind... So here is what I started with

I sorted all the pieces that I deemed big enough into color piles and had the giant pile of scraps if the corner.

Then I organized it all on this shelf that I pilfered from another room in my house!

I would REALLY love to tell you that it got cleaned up a bit more...and I would even settle for saying that it just hasn't gotten any messier...but those would both be lies. However! I did clear off my cutting table this weekend! Although i'm not sure it counts since I just pushed all my scraps into a bucket instead of organizing them...Oh well! You win some you lose some right?! How goes your struggles with the clutter? Or are you a Jedi that uses the force to keep it all neat?

Holiday Wrap Up

Oh goodness it's been a long time since I posted anything! The holidays got a bit crazy for me this year!

First it was Thanksgiving!

And then of course christmas!

I'm proud to say that I made most of our gifts this year! I will have to post on that another time because wouldn't ya know...I forgot to take pictures!! OOPS! I was sewing untill midnight on christmas eve so I suppose it's no surprise that my mind was elsewhere! I hope that you all had a fabulous holiday!
